As a General Contractor we run into bidding wars everyday. For each job site we service, we could spend weeks even months looking for the best quote to lower the price for our clients. Instead we use the same contractors over and over again, which we know will provide the best quality work and keep our clients happy. They might not be the lowest prices in town, but when it comes to your investment especially your home you want a good price but you should also want the best quality work. Think about it. You wouldn't want some company who promises to do an oil change for 3 dollars on your nice car when you know it should at least cost 40 dollars anywhere else. Beware!! Here are some good points when getting bids.
1. Make sure your contractor is licensed and insured
2. Ask as many question as you want, its your house!!
3. Tell the contractor that you want to see some other work he has finished
4. Finally make sure you sign some type of contract, and that any funds you issue for the service is written to the company name
